Video for Day of Support

A strong turn-out of members from the Guild demonstrated in Dublin yesterday as part of the International Day of Support for the WGA strike in the USA. Videos from other countries that participated in the rally can also be viewed at the Day of Support on YouTube. Many thanks to Alessandro Molatore for his sterling work putting the video together.

Hello from California!

I would like to thank you all for your wonderful show of solidarity; it is much appreciated here in the US. My husband is a WGA member currently on strike, and I have been walking with him on the picket lines when I can. Despite reports to the contrary in the US media, I can say that the union’s morale is still high and their resolve still firm. Efforts such as yours directly contribute to their good spirits. Your support is invaluable.

The writers guild is the smallest amongst the unions in the entertainment world here, so I guess that the corporate studios thought that they would not put up much of a fight if pressed. How wrong they were.

Next time we are in Dublin I plan on stopping by your guild offices to say “thank you” in person.

Cheers,
